Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif on Monday said Pakistan was committed to implementing the Doha Programme of Action considering it as an opportunity to accelerate sustainable prosperity in the least developed countries.

PM Shehbaz Sharif said partnerships between LDCs and developed countries, as well as the business sector and civil society, were important for promoting world prosperity while speaking at the 5th United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) in Doha, Qatar.

He emphasized exploring the opportunity to ensure sustainable development in the places where international assistance was needed the most.

The prime minister urged the world community to work together to unlock the LDCs’ full potential and assist them in moving forward on the path to prosperity.

PM Shehbaz Sharif stated that massive resources were needed to effectively execute Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals, adding that the LDCs needed significant expenditures in their health, education, and social protection systems (SDGs).

He said that Pakistan was dedicated to providing LDCs with funding and safe, effective vaccines.

Six LDCs having been labeled as being under tremendous burden was a cause for significant concern, according to PM Shehbaz Sharif, who also said that the poorer countries needed a social safety system.

In order to meet the unique demands of LDCs, Sharif argued that the current unfair financial system needed to be changed.

In order to help LDCs develop and eliminate their digital divide and make contributions to a knowledge-based economy, he proposed a system of global technology combined with SDGs.

The Doha Plan of Action 2031 was commended by the prime minister, in particular for its practical initiatives like the online universities, food storage system, and investment help centre.
