The prices of pulses have dropped by 20 to 25 rupees per KG in Karachi and other parts of the country.

After the release of containers held at Karachi Port, the supply of pulses has increased all across the country.

In the wholesale market, the cost of pulses including gram, moong, masoor, and maash has decreased by 10 to 30 rupees per kilogramme.

Additionally, the price of white and black gramme has decreased by 10 to 30 rupees per kilogramme. However, the retail sector has not yet seen this decrease in the price of grammes and pulses.

According to Abdul Rauf, the president of the Saddar wholesale market, 2,000 containers of pulses had been released from the port. “If the federal government and the State Bank continued their collaboration, the prices of the commodity will further decline in Ramadan,” he added.

Faisal Sabzwari, the federal minister for maritime affairs, had already announced a waiver of the port fees for the goods.

Trade groups had before identified a shortage of pulses throughout the country.

The President of the Saddar Wholesale Market issued a statement warning authorities that if the containers were not quickly released from the port, the country would experience a catastrophic pulse shortage.

He claimed that the price of pulses jumped by Rs100 per kg as a result of hundreds of containers being detained at the ports. He continued, “The administration has not yet put its decision to wipe off the port fees into effect. s For the commodities, Faisal Sabzwari has announced a port fee waiver.
