The transmission line for the import of 100MW additional power supply from Iran has been completed.

The 29-kilometre-long electricity transmission cable has finished its testing. On the direction of the prime minister and the energy minister, the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) finished the project on time.

According to sources, an additional 100 megawatts of power would be sent from Iran to Gwadar during the next few days.

The project’s completion will increase the power supply in the Makran region of Balochistan by bringing in an additional 100MW of power from the country’s neighbor, Iran.

In in addition to having a continuous power supply, the Gwadar industrial park will also have access to it thanks to the additional 100 MW of power supply that is now accessible.

The entire Makran division’s need for power supply is anticipated to be satisfied by an additional 100MW of Iranian electricity.

An agreement for the supply of an extra 100 megawatts of power starting in June 2022 had been inked by the governments of Pakistan and Iran.

Moreover, the Central Development Working Party (CDWP), last June, approved a 132kV transmission line from Jiwani to Gwadar. Gwadar relies on imported electricity from Iran and with the construction of the 132kV line, the port city will be connected to the National Grid.
