As a better customer service to help passengers and create income for the department, Pakistan Railways is prepared to begin Green Line Passenger Train operations from Islamabad to Karachi in mid-January.
“The train is comprised of two AC Parlor, five AC Business, six AC Standards, and four to five economy class coaches which will facilitate the passengers on the route,” an official in the Ministry of Railways said.
He said the decision was taken on the directives of Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique, “who wanted the best arrangements for the Green Line passenger Train for travelers”.
According to the official, the minister also ordered the officer responsible to reduce the Green Line’s journey time from Lahore to Karachi to under 20 hours in order to restore the passengers’ confidence.
“It was also decided to offer the best travel facilities possible aboard the Green Line train, including the provision of high-quality food and maintaining an affordable ticket price. Furthermore, a separate LCD will be put in each seat of the AC Parlor so that passengers may watch their favorite movies through headphones,” he added

The Green Line Train was supposed to start operations on December 20 of last year, but because of various financial and other issues, instead, it will begin operations in mid-January.
In response to a question, he stated that Pakistan Railways will also speed up efforts to improve services in passenger trains as well as at the main railway stations by engaging the private sector, which would assist address growing challenges, particularly those related to cleanliness.
“The department was of the view that the cleanliness-related services in trains and at major stations, including Lahore, Faisalabad, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Quetta, Peshawar, Khanewal, Sukkur, Sahiwal, Multan, and Bahawalpur were not satisfactory,” he added.
