Retired Lt. Gen. Sajjad Ghani, head of the Water and Power Development Authority, stated on Wednesday that the 4,320-megawatt Dasu hydropower project will start producing energy by the end of 2026 since construction was well underway and on schedule.

At the project site, he was speaking to a group of elders from the districts of Upper and Lower Kohistan and Kolai-Palas.

The Wapda chairman claimed that the massive energy project under construction in Upper Kohistan would contribute to addressing the nation’s electricity needs.

According to him, the authority had resolved all project-related problems and was spending more than Rs17 billion on the relocation of displaced families.

According to Mr. Ghani, the local elders should assist Wapda in distributing resettlement packages to just the deserving families.

In the project region, he said, “We’re spending Rs17.34 billion on the initiatives connected to resettlement, environmental management, and social development.”

According to the Wapda chairman, the initiative generated 3,722 jobs, with almost 2,000 going to locals.

As the project moved along, he predicted that the number would rise to 8,000.

Later, Mr. Ghani and the commissioner of the Hazara division inspected diversion tunnels, a housing colony, and other project locations.
