Sindh’s Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has said that Thar is the solution to the energy woes of Pakistan.

Sindh CM Shah expressed these views during a meeting with China’s Consul General in Karachi Li Bijian.

A Chinese diplomat visited Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and the two discussed energy projects using Thar coal, according to the Sindh CM’s spokesperson today.

“Chinese cooperation has proved a landmark in power generation from coal deposits in Thar,” the chief minister said. “Chinese companies are increasing power generation from coal in Thar,” he further said.

Pakistan is experiencing a severe energy crisis, which has had a negative effect on the economy of the country. The government says that generating energy from the large coal deposits in Sindh’s dry Thar region would solve the nation’s energy issues.

Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh, the energy minister for Sindh, recently announced that the Thar coal power plant will now supply the national grid with an additional 1320 Megawatt of electricity.

The energy minister for Sindh stated that a total of 2640 MW of electricity will be shortly supplied to the National Grid from Thar coal while discussing the entire potential of the coal power plant.

Thar will contribute a lot to change the face of Pakistan, it is a dream of Benazir Bhutto which is near to coming true, He added.
