The officials of the Information Technology (IT) ministry on Monday said the payment issue with Google has been resolved.

The statement came in during the meeting of the Senate standing committee on Information Technology held here in Islamabad.

According to the officials, payment has been made to the Google companies per the instructions of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, and the problem is now fixed.

Aminul Haque, the federal minister of information technology and telecommunications, earlier announced that a letter addressing the telecom operators’ worries about the payment to Google’s blockage had been delivered to Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.

SBP issues clarification on holding payments to Google:

In a statement, Haque added that just recently, all telecom providers wrote to his government to express their worries about the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) limiting user payments to Google.

He further said considering the seriousness of the matter, all stakeholders were consulted and it was decided to convey these concerns to the finance minister through a letter.
