On Thursday, Pakistan and China reached an agreement to commence the much anticipated Mainline-1 (ML1) project as soon as possible with the goal of updating and modernising the nation’s outdated railway infrastructure.

The deal was achieved between the two nations, according to the state-run news agency, at a dinner for the minister of railways, Khawaja Saad Rafiq, that was hosted by the Chinese ambassador to Pakistan, Nong Rong.

The minister was accompanied by the chairman of the railways, the additional secretary, the secretary of aviation, and the CEO of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

In order to make Pakistan’s small airports operational and give passengers greater travel facilities, the minister urged the Chinese ambassador to take into consideration a collaboration of low-cost airlines with PIA.

The minister was given the minister’s desired subject to discuss with the Chinese private airlines by the Chinese ambassador.

The envoy also pledged to take action as soon as possible to permit direct flights for Pakistani airlines from Pakistan to Beijing and Guangzhou.
