List of Pakistani Inventions by Abdus Salam, Naweed Syed, Mahbub ul Haq, Ayub K Ommaya, Raza Kazim and many more

In the past centuries, countless discoveries and inventions were seen by mankind. Each of these investors and discoveries was essential for the betterment of our lifestyle and living. Similarly, Pakistan has been a great part of the inventions and discoveries of the World. Here is a list of Pakistani Inventions and Discoveries.

List of Pakistani Inventions and Discoveries

You will be in awe when you know the contributions Pakistan has made to the World. The discoveries were not only in a specific sector but in various sectors of science and technology.

1. Plastic Magnet

Starting off with a unique invention, Naveed Zaidi a Pakistani-born Scientist invented a Plastic Magnet. The magnet was created with an organic polymer and became the first magnetic polymer to function at room temperature.

2. Electroweak Interaction

Abdus Salam along with two other American scientists, Sheldon Glashow and Steven Weinberg invented the electroweak interaction. All of these physicists were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in the year of 1979. The theory is also known as the Weinberg–Salam theory in elementary physics.

3. Higgs Boson, Sub-Atomic Particle

Abdus Salam also contributed to the discovery of sub-atomic particles along with Steven Weinberg. The particle is named after a British physicist who theorized it as a particle with mass.

4. Ommaya Reservoir

A Pakistani neurosurgeon Ayub K. Ommaya developed the Ommaya Reservoir. It is a system that is used for the delivery of drugs into the cerebrospinal fluid. It is used for the treatment of brain tumors and etc. such as chemotherapy.

5. Neurochip

A Pakistani-Born neuroscientist, Naweed I. Syed was the first scientist to create a neurochip. The chip is used to connect a silicon chip to the brain cells, considered as the first neurochip in the World.

6. Sagar Veena

Raza Kazim invented the Sagar Veena in Sanjannagar Institute in Lahore. The string instrument was entirely developed in Pakistan, it is widely used in classical music.

7. Human Development Index

The Human Development Index was developed in 1990 by a Pakistani Economist, Mahbub ul Haq. The purpose of the index was to shift the focus of the economies towards people-centered policies. The change was to be shifted from national income accounting to the policies.
