Students from flood-affected areas will receive a two-semester fee delay. Chairman of HEC. In order to ease their problems, students from flood-affected areas enrolling in public and private colleges would receive fee deferrals for two semesters, according to Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed on Friday.

He added that veterinary universities had also been instructed to support animals in these damaged areas, saying that both public and private universities were striving to assist the people of the flood-affected districts. We are developing a suitable plan to compensate the universities in the flood-affected areas, too.

The HEC chairman declared: “Because technology and education are linked, we must choose a policy to advance technology in the nation’s educational system. The concept of smart classrooms and technology did aid in ensuring that the educational process continued without interruption during the Covid-19 outbreak.

“In the upcoming years, we won’t have a formal requirement for buildings because of the revolution in the IT sector; instead, phones will be adequate for acquiring and sharing instruction. Future teaching will be delivered online, and lab exercises will be conducted using computer simulations.

“We will adopt optimum world practices to ensure quality education through online and latest technology, and around 10 to 15 percent budget allocation is mandatory for each university for distance education system, which will be increased to 50% after some time with a proper plan and consultation of all private and public universities.”

Dr Ahmed said the HEC had also launched programs related to artificial intelligence and cyber security in many universities, including the Air University, NUST, and the UET, while other universities would also get these programs soon.
