The Minister for Finance, Communications, and Works (C&W) of Balochistan, Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran, stated that the provincial government would be presenting a budget for the financial year 2022-23 on June 20th that would be friendly to the people.

Acting Governor Balochistan, Jan Muhammad Khan Jamali has summoned the budget session of the Balochistan Assembly on (Monday) June 20, 2022 at 4pm, under Article 109 (a) of the Constitution.

While speaking to APP, he said that funds would be allocated to the 65 constituencies of the Balochistan Assembly on the basis of equality to ensure that development would be equal in all areas of the province.

Rehman said that the present provincial government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, would present its first budget.

He said that the government had been trying hard to make the budget people-friendly and balanced, with the aim to provide maximum relief to the people of Balochistan.

He said that due to the limited resources of Balochistan, the budget for the next financial year might project a small deficit.

However, he said that after the Reko Dik agreement by the present government, it would be in a position to present a better budget in the coming years.

“We do not claim that we are going to end all the miseries of Balochistan in the upcoming budget, but our endeavor is to serve the people better than before,” he concluded.

During his tenure as chief minister, the former chief minister neglected important areas and deliberately allocated funds unequally to opposition constituencies, the present government will ensure that all constituencies receive equal funding.

When asked about this, he said that the present provincial government is trying to serve the people as much as possible and would not repeat the mistakes made by previous governments.
