APCC propose Rs.84bn for Diamer-Bhasha and Dasu Project

The Annual Plan Coordination Committee (APCC) has proposed a fund allocation of Rs. 84.4 billion in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2022–23 for the Diamer-Bhasha Dam Project and the Dasu Hydropower Project.

According to official documents available to ProPakistani, the total allocation of water resources is Rs. 180.443 billion, which includes Rs. 86.86 billion for ongoing projects and Rs. 700 million for new projects.

In addition, five new projects with an approved cost of Rs. 4.9 billion have been included in the PSDP 2022-23, with the APCC proposing a Rs. 700 million allocation for them.

During the upcoming PSDP 2022–23, the APCC has proposed allocating Rs. 25 billion for both the dam portion and land acquisition of the Diamer-Bhasha Dam Project. The Dasu Hydropower Project has been budgeted for Rs. 59.19 billion, including Rs. 3.36 billion for power evacuation.

The Diamer-Bhasha Dam Project has a budget of Rs. 473.42 billion. An allocation of Rs. 18 billion has been proposed for the dam portion of the Diamer-Bhasha Dam Project, with Rs. 7 billion recommended for land acquisition and project resettlement.

The APCC has proposed a budget of Rs. 11.060 billion for the Mohmand Multipurpose Dam Project.

Similarly, the proposed allocation for the Kachhi Canal Project (Remaining Work) Phase-I is Rs. 9.471 billion.

The Nai Gaj Dam Project, Dadu, has been proposed for Rs. 5 billion in the upcoming PSDP (Sindh). The total approved cost of the project is Rs. 46.980 billion, with an estimated expenditure of Rs. 14.93 billion by the end of the current fiscal year. The forward amount is Rs. 32.288 billion.

In comparison to the Rs. 27.732 billion thrown forward, the proposed allocation is only Rs. 500 million. The total approved cost of the project is Rs. 28.465 billion, with an estimated expenditure of Rs. 732.583 billion until 30 June 2022.
