CDWP approves three Development Projects Worth Rs. 15.78 Billion

Three development projects costing Rs.15.78 billion were approved by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) on Thursday.

Under the supervision of Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Dr Mohammad Jahanzeb Khan, the CDWP reviewed seven projects and approved two, while recommending one to the National Economic Council (ECNEC).

The forum approved the Torkham Jalalabad Road 2nd Carriageway, Afghanistan project for Rs. 10.58 billion, the Establishment of 132KV Grid Station at Bin Qasim Industrial Park, Karachi for Rs. 3.6 billion, and the Up-gradation of Mechanical System for Sewerage and Drainage Services in Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), Multan for Rs. 1.59 billion.

The Afghanistan project Torkham Jalalabad Road 2nd Carriageway will connect the Central Asian Republics with Pakistan. This project was sponsored by the Pakistani government to assist the Afghan government in its attempts to repair and repair the road network by adding 73.6 kilometers to the existing two-lane two-way road between Torkham and Jalalabad.

The forum also approved the construction of a 132kV grid station in Karachi’s Bin Qasim Industrial Park for Rs. 3.6 billion. The project seeks to offer an uninterrupted power supply at affordable rates to the Bin Qasim Industrial Park’s Special Economic Zone (SEZ) to address the power needs of SEZ firms.

The conference also approved the Rs 1.59 billion upgrade of the mechanical system for sewerage and drainage services in WASA, Multan. Punjab’s government had proposed the project. WASA Multan was founded in 1992 to provide water and sanitation services to Multan residents.
