ISLAMABAD – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) authorized an Rs2.86 per unit rise in power tariffs for March 2022 due to a fuel costs adjustment (FCA).
The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had submitted a request to Nepra for an Rs3.15 per unit increase in power prices.
Consumers would face an additional expense of Rs28.9 billion as a result of the decision to raise power tariffs.
Except for lifeline customers and K-Electric customers, all distribution company customers will pay the FCA with their May 2022 bills.
In their petition, the CPPA claimed that in March, a total of 10 billion units were produced at Rs94 billion.
It informed the regulatory body that the cost of power generated from thermal oil was Rs22.52 per unit in March, while the cost of electricity generated from LNG was Rs14.36 per unit.
