Pakistani Alpine skier Mohammad Karim is ready to compete in Beijing Winter Olympics 2022. He had extensive training abroad.

The 2022 Winter Olympics is happening from Feb. 4 to Feb. 20. Its venue is near the neighboring towns of Yanqing and Chongli.

Pakistani skier Mohammad Karim has previously competed in alpine skiing at Sochi 2014 and PyeongChang 2018.

“For the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022, I have been practicing for the last three years. I am fully ready for the competition because I practiced and took part in the races in Turkey, Lebanon, and Italy,” Karim told in an interview.

It is the third time for Pakistani Muhammad Karim in the Winter Olympics. And It is the fourth time that Pakistan is participating in the competition.

Pakistani skier Mohammad Abbas was the first to participate in the winter games at Vancouver 2010. He was the first athlete to qualify in the alpine skiing (giant slalom) category.

Muhammad Karim is from Naltar Bala Valley of Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistan’s north. He is 26-year-old. He started practicing in skiing at the age of 4. But he started professional skiing in 2007.

“I started to play locally in childhood,” he said. “From 2007, I started professional skiing.”

The northern mountain ranges of Pakistan have helped Karim find his passion for the sports career. And he believes that with proper training institutes in Pakistan, more athletes like him can reach their full potential.

“The country’s snowy mountains have the perfect slopes to promote skiing,” he said. “If our government pays attention to winter sports, and athletes are properly trained, then the youth will leave no stone unturned to make the country proud.”
