The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has developed a mega rainwater harvesting/storage project across five major parks in Rawalpindi city.
Furthermore, the main of the project is to utilise reserved rainwater for irrigation in parks and tree planting all across the city. Instead of freshwater from tube wells. The completion of this project will allow precious clean water for the citizens. The work will begin in March and will be completed in three months. Sites have already been decided for the project and PC-1 is also complete.
Moreover, all the rainwater will be stored in the coming monsoon season. Underground water tanks will be assembled for water storage and filling stations will also be set up. This project will be launched in the following parks of Rawalpindi including Allama Iqbal Park, Rawal Park, Pothohar Park, Liaquat Bagh and Commercial Market Children’s Park.
These five underground water tanks are inaugurated under the Annual Development Program Scheme. The chairman of PHA Chairman Asif Mahmood added that they have filled the parks across the city with all kinds of flowers. Colourful lights are also being installed, he said. “Tree plantation will begin for the beautification of Rawalpindi in spring,” he said.
