Pakistan has created an online registration site for freelancers in the nation. Syed Amin-ul-Haque, Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications inaugurated the portal at the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) headquarters.
The platform was created as part of the government’s goal to increase the number of freelancers in the country. The IT Minister stated on the occasion that Pakistani freelancers have driven the expansion of the country’s gig economy.
He went on to say that the country’s freelancing economy is quickly expanding and that registering such persons is a significant step toward giving them proper credit for all of their efforts in Pakistan.
He said that the rise of Pakistani freelancers will boost the country’s export revenues.
The National Freelancing Facilitation Policy has also been created, according to the minister, who said that it was created after extensive consultation and is aimed at speeding and supporting the growth of Pakistan’s freelancing economy.
Additionally, at the event, Osman Nasir, Managing Director of the Pakistan Software Export Board, stated that “Pakistan is listed as the second-biggest provider of online labor in software development and technology as per the International Labour Organization Flagship Report 2021.”
He went on to say that PSEB has developed a number of initiatives to help IT professionals and recent graduates polish their abilities through training and international certifications.
Dr. Sohail Rajput, Secretary of Information Technology, was also present at the portal’s opening event.
