On Monday, the Sindh health and education departments stated that a Covid-19 immunization program will begin in the province’s schools and institutions on September 6.

According to a statement issued by the province School Education and Literacy Department, schools across Sindh started lessons today. As per the announcement, schools must be open six days a week, with kids attending 50 percent of the time on alternating days.

Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho and Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah presided over today’s session, which was accompanied by Parliamentary Health Secretary Qasim Soomro, Health Secretary Kazim Jatoi, Education Secretary Akbar Leghari, and other authorities via conference call.

The conference decided that the health department’s 2,527 teams will take part in the immunization campaign against the dangerous epidemic.

During the program, about 1.4 million children in grades nine through twelve would be immunized against the illness.

The vaccination campaign would begin at the district level in the first phase and would subsequently be expanded to the sub-division level.

The conference also determined that the school administration would contact the children’s parents and obtain their agreement, while the vaccine would be done in private.

“Registration should also be enforced once the vaccine is finished,” stated the provincial health minister.

Vaccination, according to Minister Sardar Shah, would be required to continue the educational process and ensure the safety of youngsters. He said that the health department will be in charge of arranging the Covid-19 vaccinations in educational institutions.
